She dropped the phone and burst into tears
The doctor just confirmed her fears
Her husband held it in and held her tight
Cancer don't discriminate or care if you're just 38
With three kids who need you in their lives
He said, "I know that you're afraid and I am, too
But you'll never be alone, I promise you"
Chorus:
When you're weak, I'll be strong
When you let go, I'll hold on
When you need to cry, I swear that I'll be there to dry
your eyes
When you feel lost and scared to death,
Like you can't take one more step
Just take my hand, together we can do it
I'm gonna love you through it.
She made it through the surgery fine
They said they caught it just in time
But they had to take more than they planned
Now it's forced smiles and baggy shirts
To hide what the cancer took from her
But she just wants to feel like a woman again
She said, "I don't think I can do this anymore"
He took her in his arms and said "That's what my love
is for"
And when this road gets too long i'll be the rock you
lean on
Just take my hand, together we can do it
I'm gonna love you through it.
I'm gonna love you through it
In this song Martina expresses her and others women feelings that are going through Breast Cancer, as well as what their families have to go through. I can relate to this song in ways that many other people may not be able to some may but not many, two years ago my Great Aunt was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. It was one struggle I thought I would never have to go through in my life, I just imagined it as one of the one in a million things. In the song, 4th paragraph down, it reads "she made it through the surgery fine they said they caught it just time." My aunt luckily made it through as well after about eight months of fighting like a woman. Never underestimate a woman. I've also heard from my bestfriend, Kayla, the stories of her grandma's fight as well, in 2004. The struggle goes way farther down the road even after your cured from the sickness. Its something you live with for your entire life. Like the song states, "But they had to take more than they planned, now its forced smiles and baggy shirts to hide what the cancer took from her, but she just wants to feel like a women again." Breast cancer obviously takes a womans pride away from her, her breast. And fake boobs is not a choice after being diagnosed its just something you have to live with, like my aunt. Even if you've never gone through something like this, it still effects everyone. So during this October remember the breast cancer victims and wear pink.
